Prolonged Study Leave

Prolonged Study Leave is granted to allow a GP to undertake study or research to the benefit of medicine or the NHS (and presumably them as well). It isnormally be granted once in a career for a period between 10 weeks and 12 months.

The administration of PSL has been changed over the last couple of years and PCTs rather than Deaneries are now responsible for payment. This has caused some confusion but don't let this put you off if you wish to apply. PSL can still be obtained. See the information below (which will hopefully become more clear and coordinated during 2005/2006) and speak to us if you wish to go ahead - email DPGPE to discuss your thoughts at the outset.
