Download Help

Deanery Documents available for downloading from this site are in one of two formats:

Portable Document Format (pdf) for documents meant to be read but not altered.

Rich Text Format (rtf) for documents meant to be altered in a word processor.

Some documents submitted by outside agencies do not conform to this standard and may need a special viewer:

MS Word (doc) for documents

Powerpoint (ppt) for presentations.

Mind Manager (mmp) for 'mindmaps'

Viewing & Printing a Document

If you left-click on the link to the document your browser should open the relevant plug-in and display the document so that you can view or print it. The document will be stored temporarily on your computer but once you have closed your browser or turned off your computer the document may be deleted.

Saving a Copy of a Document

If you right-click on the link to the document your browser should display a menu of options. One of these will be "Save link as..." or "Save as..." or something like that. If you left click on this option you will be offered a save box which allows you to save the document on your hard disk in a place of your choosing so that you can keep a permanent copy for later use.

PDF documents

need the Adobe Acrobat reader to be displayed. If you don't have the Reader it is well worth getting. It is available free from the Adobe website.

Click here to download the latest version of the reader Adobe Acrobat

Note where you save the download. Once the download is finished find the downloaded program on the hard disk and double-click on it to install the reader.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RTF documents

should display in any word processor. If your browser doesn't open your word processor automatically then save the document (see right-click above), open your word processor in the usual way and then try to open the saved document into the word processor. If all else fails you can use Microsoft Word Viewer to look at and print (but not alter) the document. This is available free from the Microsoft Download Website.

Click below to download Microsoft Word Viewer.

For Windows 3.x

For Windows 95/98/2000/NT

Note where you save the download. Once the download is finished find the downloaded program on the hard disk and double-click on it to install the viewer.

PPT presentations need Powerpoint for full functionality. Non-MS presentation software will often display ppt files as well. If you have neither you can download a Powerpoint viewer free from the Microsoft Download Website.

Click here to download Powerpoint Viewer 2000 for Windows

MMP Mindmaps allow ideas to be displayed graphically in 'exploding' formats. The MMP viewer is available free from the Mind Manager website.

Click here to download Mind Manager Viewer (2.33MB)- the program installs automatically once it has downloaded.
