Educational Activities
VTS Half Day Release Thursday afternoons running continuously
throughout the year. Programme planned by the Registrars and SHOs.
Includes clinical topics, learning for a life in General Practice,
alternative medicine, and days out with a medical flavour or simply
for fun. All Registrars and SHOs attend, starting with a Balint-style
small groups then joining together for the organised programme.
A 2 day Residential Workshop is held each Autumn, giving the
opportunity to explore a subject in detail.
Registrars start with a 3 month attachment in General Practice
before commencing the hospital rotation.
Educational Resources
Watford Postgraduate Medical Centre and library. All Training
Practices had computer facilities and access to the Internet.
The Scheme also has a lap-top for Registrar and SHO use.
Highlights
We provide a supportive and stimulating - and fun! - environment
for the Doctors on our Scheme. Many VTS Graduates choose to settle
in the local area. MRCGP is encouraged and we have a high pass
rate. Scheme morale is excellent and we especially enjoy our days
out - to Paris, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Alton Towers in recent
years.
