Associate Trainers

The prime role of Associate Trainers is likely to be in teaching Foundation Year 2 doctors and medical students (or their nursing equivalents). However, they may also assist with the training of GP registrars. They work under the supervision and direction of a qualified Trainer.

Who can apply?

Any primary care doctor or nurse who has been practising for a year or more (MRCGP is not required).

Entrance Requirements:

  • You must complete an Associate Trainer course (or equivalent) - see below.
  • You must have a GP or Nurse Trainer willing to act as your educational supervisor.
  • You must apply and be assessed at interview (including assessment of a video of you training).
  • Your practice must also meet the required standard - existing training practices automatically qualify.
To discuss the issues and involvement required please contact Keith Cockburn
