GP Registrar Appraisal

In 2004 annual appraisal was extended to all doctors in training. Trainers and Educational Supervisors are the most appropriate appraisers for GP registrars and SHOs.

Trainees are responsible for ensuring that they are annually appraised. As for all other doctors the appraisal documentation remains the property of the appraisee. The trainer / educational supervisor should retain a copy of Form 4 - Summary of Appraisal Discussion - on the GP registrar's personal file and provide a copy to the Patch Director.

The latest national documentation and guidance for the appraisal of doctors in training in the NHS is available from: The DoH website
Failing this, these are the documents as at April 2005 The Guidance
  The Forms

This documentation should be used for both the GP SHO phase and GP registrar phase of training.
