OUT OF HOURS TRAINING FOR GP REGISTRARS

This page explains the position on OOH training for GP Registrars as at April 2005 and provides downloads and links.

The basic position is:

GP trainers remain responsible for ensuring that their registrars are appropriately trained in OOH work and for overall educational supervision.
Direct clinical supervision and 'hands-on' training may be provided by another appropriate individual. All trainers and associate trainers are automatically approved. Confirmation of approval of other docotrs can be obtained from the relevant patch administrator
PCOs and OOH Providers will provide appropriate clinical opportunity and clinical supervision for registrars.
Registrars will keep records of their OOH work.
The Deanery will set standards for OOH training and will provide quality assurance for the whole process

Across the whole Deanery local systems for providing OOH training may vary considerably. We are keen to share examples of good practice - please send information which you are willing to share via the feedback link below.
